The International School Governance Forum

The International School Governance Forum (ISGF) is a collaborative international forum which brings together school associations, accreditation bodies, inspectorates, and governance specialists to develop a shared understanding of effective governance, and to raise awareness of the importance of governance across the international schools sector.
Its purpose is to promote high standards of governance through dialogue, collaboration, research, professional development and the sharing of good practice across the sector. The ISGF seeks to strengthen governance culture, accountability and Board effectiveness in ways which respect the diversity of international school contexts and ownership models.
ISGF is not a formal membership body but acts as a platform for collective discussion and action, encouraging cooperation between organisations and supporting the development of practical frameworks, principles and resources to improve governance internationally.
The Forum recognises that this website is intended to express a shared understanding and set of founding principles rather than a detailed governance framework. Future work will focus on supporting these principles through discussion, awareness-raising and practical resources rather than developing prescriptive standards.
